“A Way to Keep Our Culture Present” at Burlington City Hall

Since 1992, Vermont Folklife’s Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program (VTAAP) has supported nearly 400 apprenticeships in artforms that reflect the shared cultural history, values, and aesthetics of the groups that practice them.

This exhibit uses photography and the words of the artists to explore ten traditional art forms which have been supported by VTAAP over the last three decades.

VT Folklife, VT Fish & Wildlife, and the National Wild Turkey Federation are celebrating the 51st anniversary of the reintroduction of the wild turkey in Vermont with a series of Listening Parties at breweries across the state. A bit like a DJ set of the spoken word, we’ll share recorded stories drawn from an oral history project that documents the history of Vermont’s turkey restoration, and also invite YOU, our audience, to share your own stories from the field, be it a successful hunt, a near miss, or a simple moment of appreciation for these magnificent birds.
