Creating Human-Centered Story Portraits

This workshop is tailored to the needs of non-profit and community organizations.

Your participants, donors and volunteers serve as your nonprofit’s most important ambassadors; each one has a compelling story to tell that highlights your organization’s value. Learn how to engage with those stories in a way that also strengthens relationships, and learn how to create poignant profile-stories for your website, social media platforms, and fundraising campaigns.

We’ll practice interviewing techniques, learn best practices for structuring compact stories, and review photography basics for taking striking visual portraits of your subjects.

Our afternoon lab will conclude with your designing a story portrait in Canva (free, simple online graphic design app), bringing together words and image for a powerful story portrait.

Instructors: Mary Rizos, Vermont Folklife Center Education Director, and Marybeth Christie Redmond, Writer-Journalist & Nonprofit Consultant; Partner, Vermont Story Lab

This workshop will take place in Barre, VT, and registration is through Vermont Story Lab
