Vermont Folklife Center Middlebury Vermont

The Heritage Shop

The Vermont Folklife Center Heritage Shop offers a unique selection of traditional crafts from Vermont and the surrounding region. We feature the work of more than 25 contemporary folk artists and artisans who carry on cultural traditions handed down through their family or their community.

Among the crafts on display are whirligigs, decoy carvings, hand made quilts, Native American sweet grass and brown ash baskets, beeswax candles, hand spun wool and knitted garments, hooked and braided rugs, tramp art, and carved wooden utensils.

We also carry in our specialty shop publications, audiotapes and videotapes about rural culture and folklife produced by the Vermont Folklife Center, and other resources for both adults and children on oral history, traditional music, storytelling, and crafts.

Proceeds from the sales at the Heritage Shop support various VFC programs, including the apprenticeship grants program, exhibitions, and educational programming. Thank you for your support.
